Pre Assault Preparation

How we live everyday, interact with our environment and the individuals that transition though it can often determine our needs to utilize defensive measures. Simply stated, awareness can prevent violent conflict. At STG we teach our students to think ouside the gun. Awareness, avoidance and deconfliction can often be the key to non-violent conflict resolution. If the fight is imminent, then survival is paramount but we can help win your encounter by proper environmental management.

Medical Trauma Reduction

Gunfights go both ways. Sometimes good guys get tagged. "Blood In" is a 4-hour intensive study in critical blood loss and how to stop it. In this course we will cover: • choosing the tourniquet that's right for you • staging the tourniquet for efficient delivery • partner, and self application with both hands, one-hand, in low light and in confined-space environments. *** This course is not necessarily for the tactically-minded. Auto accidents cause death by exsanguination far more often than gunshots. Understanding how to stop critical blood loss should be a task anyone can perform. Join is in our exploration of how to keep the "Blood In".

Combatives

Before we press the hot lead button, many problems can be mitigated by a quick wrap on the beak. Our 4-hour combatives course covers a smattering of timing, distancing and angling necessary to control your opponent's actions before leather (or kydex) is broken. In this course you will learn: - to see an assault develop before punches are thrown - getting off-line of an attack - preventing trips, double-legs and tackles - draw stoppages and disarms.

Trauma Reduction: Thoracic Intrusion

Doc, it hurts then I do this. "Then don't do that". What happens when you take a penetrating wound to the chest? Lots of stuff and not much of it is good. This 4-hour course teaches students how to recognize a thoracic intrusion injury and steps to take to quickly stabilize the injury. We will cover: - both clinically proven and field expedient bandaging solutions - monitoring for sucking chest wounds - monitoring and preventing shock - stabilizing the patient for extraction.

Trauma Reduction: Wound Packing

Wound packing deals with junction injuries that can't be TQ'd off or sealed up. It's the down, dirty and outright painful side of field medicine that can just possibly save a life. Our students will learn the signs of a junctional hemorrhage and the tools to arrest lethal blood loss. And yes... come prepared to get messy.

Pre CHL Pistol Selection

Deciding which pistol to buy can be overwhelming! This stress-free course guides the consumer, who understands the need to carry a firearm for protection through the proper selection process. Fit, function and carry options are discussed benefiting day-to-day operations when deciding to carry a firearm. During this 4-hour course, Sierra’s experienced instructors discuss the factors that lead you to choose one gun over another so that you end up with a weapon you are comfortable training with and ultimately carrying for your safety. This course is a great building block for your safety and understanding as you journey into the world of firearms and self-defense.

Pre CHL Holster Selection

For every pistol out there, there are dozens of ways to carry it and literally thousands of holsters to choose from. Let an experienced Sierra instructor wade you through the multitude of options allowing you to carry your firearm in the most secure, discrete and accessible manner specific to you. Concealed Handgun Licensing

Ohio Concealed handgun certification. This is a certification course that meets all requirements necessary to obtain the State of Ohio Concealed Handgun License. The class is divided into 6 hours of classroom instruction covering the Attorney Generals booklet, legal aspects, mindset, tactics and daily operation followed by 2 hours of live fire to obtain proficiency in the safe handling of a concealed weapon. Firearms are provided so it is unnecessary to purchase one specifically for this class. We urge students to attend our Pistol Selection course if they have questions about which gun is best for them.

Pistol Skill Builder: Grip, Sights, Trigger

Once safe handling is ingrained, shooters learn that proper input on the firearm exact a desired outcome. In this course, students explore the basics of establishing grip, finding the sights from the draw and interacting with the trigger. This will develop consistent, readable shot groups and help the student make necessary corrections on the move.

Winning a gunfight is only partially about shooting. The ability to stay calm, problem solve and apply proper tactics are all necessary to successfully negotiate critical incidents. Our combat pistol course not only helps you refine your pistolcraft through basic skills development but also focuses on critical thinking, application of trauma care and personal safety pre-weapon deployment. Intro to Dot Optics

Not quite blasters and light sabers but close. Electronically produced Optics (EPOs) have been on the shooting scene since the ‘70s, but they have gained significant traction in the law enforcement and civilian defensive pistol markets in the last ten years. This course is your formal introduction to miniaturized dot-style optics. Intro to Dot Optics leads shooters through the basics of zeroing, finding the dot from the draw, sight tracking, follow-up shots, sight specific malfunctions and maintenance. If you’re looking at getting the most out of your pistol mounted optic, this course is it.

Basic American Carbine

America’s fighting rifle entered the war scene in the 1960s at the beginning of the Vietnam War. Its ease of use, modularity and reliable ballistics has made it a staple of American Law Enforcement and responsibly armed citizens in the following half century. Today, over 10 million AR-style rifles protect American families. This course is designed to familiarize and train new shooters with this highly versatile weapon system. Basic American Carbine offers students a hands-on look at: basic rifle marksmanship skills, field stripping, nomenclature, malfunctions and maintenance in a fun, stress-free environment.

Advanced American Carbine

The sequel to Basic American Carbine, AAC challenges shooters with: multi-target engagements, non-standard firing positions, transitions upon failure, off-shoulder work, partner and team tactics. This course is about seamlessly integrating the weapon system into a critical incident as a force multiplier.

Vehicle Close Quarters Battle

Vehicle CQB is an accelerated shooting class focused on positional shooting and a critical look at how we have historically fought in and around vehicle. Students will push boundaries of “traditional” cover and concealment utilizing various cars and trucks in a true 3D environment. Drills will incorporate critical weapon employment while engaging threats in, around, from, over and under vehicles with a heavy emphasis on problem solving. Live ballistic demos with a variety of ammunition will be conducted as the class explores ballistic deflection, deformation, penetration and terminal effect in direct correlation to various vehicle mediums. This is a long day with lots of information covered, so come prepared. This is a Centrifuge Training LLC authorized class.

Rifle Skill Builder: Transitions

A jammed-up rifle doesn’t mean your work is done. This course is designed to help shooters seamlessly transition to a secondary weapon system without loss of tempo or target pressure. Understanding sling assistance, offline movement and throttle control will help shooters neutralize threats up close then get the primary weapon back on line as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Rifle Skill Builder: Malfunctions

Don’t panic. Your primary just shit the bed. Without a backup, getting your rifle back online quickly can be the difference between winning and losing. In this course you will focus on what makes rifles go down, recognizing malfunctions by feel and bringing them smoothly back on line. You’ll be turning a press-click to a press-crack in seconds flat.

Drills, Drills, Drills! Ours, theirs, whoever. This is the class that tests your operational skill level. If you’ve ever seen a YouTube drill and thought, “I should try that” but never did, now is probably your chance. Movement drills, speed drills, multi target drills, all accompanied by your little friend the SHOT TIMER!!! Come on out and test your steel.

Precision Rifle Operator (Open Enrollment)

Everybody is a sniper until it’s time to do sniper shit! Precision Rifle Operator is a 40 hour certification course designed, primarily to spin-up snipers/ observer teams for law enforcement tactical units. We are inviting all comers who want to improve their MOA game. If you’ve always wanted to test your distance skills, this class will do it. Topics covered: marksmanship, intelligence gathering, field craft and hide-sight development.

We can’t fight if we can’t find our way. In a world of global positioning systems, what happens when the grid goes down? This course will get there with out a computer. Sierra coaches bring you back to old-school ways with a topo-map and compass, guiding you through pace count, shooting azimuths and terrain appreciation. Go ahead, get yourself lost.
